Not sure if I mentioned this fun shoot I had with my girls while they were out of school last Monday. We had super fun and I had a great rainy day to edit all of them, well almost all of them. At the bottom here are some of my favorite originals, the middle proof is just a fun silly idea I had and the top is what I was thinking of for the final project for thier personalized cards for this year. To keep a long story short you can check out an older post on our story, but the simple fact is that this month Jan 22. I was to have delivered a healthy baby boy. There was a different plan for us and our little Boston although he is not here physically, his spirit has blessed our lives tremendously. I had prepared my self for this month and the upcoming date, I was worried that it would be really hard, but thankfully we are all doing well and I wanted to celebrate this month by honoring him in some way. After doing a photo shoot for a dear friend a couple weeks ago, I had this overwhelming feeling that I should giveaway a newborn photo session. I could not think of a better gift as a mother. Babies change so fast and to capture that first week......memories you just cant get back!!!! There is just something so pure, innocent, refreshing and loving about a newborn. I am honored to give this session away. So if you or someone you know is expecting the rules are below

Family Shoot

My little bro and his family came out to visit after Christmas. Pretty sure they were hoping for some snow to let th boys romp around in but there was no such thing this year. Lucky for us though we grabbed the good weather and headed outside for these pics. During and even After I was not sure how they wer going to turn out. Lots of different ages here, different attitudes and personalities, but after getting them up on the computer and doing a little cropping I really love how they turned out. Love my bro and his cute little fam. It was nice to have some boys in the house.

I was super lucky to have the chance to take some pics of this new little guy. A whole week new to be exact. He was super fun and cozy and cudly. His sisters were very curious as to why I had a heater going, why baby brother had no clothes on, why I had my camera in his face etc. They were super good helpers espcially when it came time to grab a diaper, binky, hats, props etc. So much fun. After coming home I told my hubby that if I could just do newborn shoots it would be heaven. They take direction the best (mostly becuase they are so sleepy they could care less what you do to them), they are so pure and innocent and I get to capture it. Love it.

I am only writing on one blog now so for family and friends and clients I apologise to have it all on here but that would be nelles nonsense. Warning this post may be long and sad so skip if you would like. I just wanted to jot down some of the experiences we had gone through to not only have a record of it but also in hopes that maybe it will help someone else who may be going through the same thing.

It is amazing how many people this does happen to, not sure why there is no real written support about it exept that it may be toooo personal for people to write about. I will try to make this short as I have plans in the works to write in a bigger format.

We found out we were going to have a baby in May of 2011. It was around the same time London was getting baptized. We could not be happier and things were going according to plan. Things were going great. I have to admit that I am a prego rockstar. I had my initial apt and bloodwork at 8 wks everything looked great. Went at 12 wks and heard the hearbeat things were great. Went again at 16 wks and heard the heartbeat again weight was good and I was feeling good except for being tired which for me was still in my normal range. Somewhere between 16 wks and 20wks something happened that was not according to my plan.

I had been having feelings that maybe this was not going to happen you know that little voice. I had not been gaining weight like I normally do but I just attributed that to being a little more food wise and I had been working out before and during this pregnancy where before I was young and lazy. We decided to go away for the weekend and before we left B had asked if I wanted to run up to the hospital to have an ultrasound and I said no, if something was wrong I would know. But i think I did know and just did not want to know. So we headed out of town for a fun weekend with family on the mountain in fact the pic above is from that weekend with my lil sis it is the only prego pic i have. The next day was Sunday and during the announcements in church they had announced the funeral services for an angel baby. A warm tingling and a calm understanding came over me that I would too be experiencing what this young mother had.

We went home from church and I told be that I was pretty sure our baby would not make it here to the earth. I had a strong feeling that our baby needed to come and gain the physical body that I was allowed to provide for him and that he would soon return home to heaven. There was a strong understanding in his eyes when I told him and he simply gave me a hug and suggested I rest for the day. As I did I prayed to know what all these feelings meant. Little did I know that two days later I would not here or see a heartbeat on the ultrasound machine. I had to make a decision about what to do.

Brandon rearanged his schedule of patients to meet me at the hospital to deliver our baby. At the time we did not know if we would be having a boy or a girll. After I delivered and it was announced that it was a boy I turned to B and our hearts sank together. I do not know if it would have been any easier if it was a girl. I will not go into details of all that we experienced during the time we were waiting to deliver and after even weeks after but I do know that my prayers were answered and we definately had angels among us during that time. I am so grateful for a gospel that had a plan of where we came from, who we are, and where we are going. I am grateful for a gospel that alows us to pray to our Father in Heaven and feel of his love and spirit through sweet moments of answered prayers. I am grateful for a gospel that believes in Jesus Christ my savior. I am grateful that becuase of his atonement and sacrifice I know that I am not alone even in my sorrow, sadness, gladdness and joy he understands how it feels to love and to loose. I am grateful for all the family and freinds who helped during this time. I am grateful for my three beautiful girls who still have a hard time understanding why they could not see him. They know and I know that we will see him again. That he did come to gain his perfect little body and return home to do a much greater work. Although it is hard, very hard some day to see the eternal perspective of it I am greateful for the knowledge that I wll see him again someday.

Thanks for letting me write this. I could not tell the whole story as it would have taken too long. I could not explain many of the great blessings we recieved at this time because they are still toooo personal but in time.

Our Turn

It was our turn to get our family pics done so I had lori from here take them. Our family has been through a lot recently detailed post to come. But we needed to get our pics done for the year. These pics were hard for me just becuase I am not happy with my body right now. It has been a month since our little Boston returned home and it is hard to still have prego body when you are not and do not have a baby to show for it. So we got all dressed up and headed out to one of our favorite photo spots it is more of an industrial look but I love the contrast. Loved how they turned out and we even did a tribute pic for lil. Boston. My siblings bought this lovely piece of jewelry from here. I love it, it is so nice to just have something close to your heart, it takes away the empty feeling. Loved how the pics turned out. Thanks Lori for all your time and hard work. We are actually headed up the canyon tonight to swap family photos a more fallish look. Stay tuned.

Squidney turned 6

My Syd turned 6 holy cow I am getting old. She is such a cutie and has the biggest heart. We took a test shoot and it did not turn out, lots of factors, weather, distractions etc. So when her new clothes came from CP she asked if we could go again so we made it a date. She did not want to stop and had some great idea for pics. She is such a beautie. And I love her bangs. Thanks Mrs. Ashley for turning gum cut out of hair into a lovely hair do. Love you Syd!!!

Baker Beach

Back during spring break my sis and I caravanned home with our seven kids. It would not have been a complete trip if we did not hit up the city and the beach. So we took a day and headed in to San Fran and stopped at Baker Beach. It was cold, foggy and wiiiiiindy but still snapped some pics for memories.

I got a frantic phone call from a friend saying her daughter needed some head shots. She had just been awarded sterling scholar and needed a pic for them and did not want to use her shcool year book pic. So I hopped in the car picked her up and we ran around town and snapped these beauties.

Oh we have been planning this one for a while. I knew I wanted her in her white dress (which I made out of my wedding dress) and a horse. Lucky for me the gal who works for us has some on her property so we spent a morning on the horses. It was fun and London had a blast although she was a little nervous riding without a saddle in a slippery dress but she did really good. I had to laugh becuase when she was leading the horse it would not budge as you can see from the pic. I also wanted just some simple portraits of her. I usually shoot in the evening as we did this time but we had some thunderstorms coming in so we raced up to the mountain and snapped a couple but then got stuck in a downpour so we made it back to the car and raced back into to town to capture the rest by an old barn and tall grass. I have to admit I love the dark skies in the background it offered some grat soft box lighting for me.

While I was home visiting last spring I had a high school friend ask if I would take pics of her 8 month old twins. I was so excited to see her but to also shoot twins. It was a challenge but we worked with what we had and was able to get a few shots of the moment. The little babe was a ham and loved the camera while the little man was a little aprehensive of the foreign black object in his face as you can see from his expressions. Overall it was fun and great to see them

I was so excited to have my niece come and stay with us for a little while. It was so nice having some help with the girls but also to hang out with her. She is a great girl and was a little skeptical about having her pic taken but we had a fun time (I think she did tooo) and we were able to get some really great pics. Here is a photo shoot we did with some friends. All these leggings and tutus are made by yours truly. I know these probably would have been better in color but I was shooting in B & W. Kinda like how they turned out. Inspirations Week number 6 and 7

I am all caught up on my weeks and since it is February I thought I would drag the inspiration to love, over two weeks. Love is a funny emotion. In fact I think it is all emotions wrapped up into one word. There are all types of love and all ways to show it (something I am still working on) But when it comes down to it we need to make sure we let the ones we love know just how much. Thanks to my hubby who bought me these wonderful Roses today and for spending the last few days being the doctor, nurse, chef, and house maid. Cairo and I have been super sick but feeling a little better today in fact we are just about to lie down together to take an afternoon nap.

My Inspirations week # 5

Here is my inpiration for the week. Mrs. Cai. She let me snap this pic of her after lunch last week. Her dad had to bribe her with a slurpy if she would just smile for me. She is my baby. I know she is 3.5 years old but she is. She gets away with almost anything, has a super sassy attitude and does not take anything from her older sisters. She is a tuff cookie. She wants to be so big but she is so tiny. Sometimes I wonder if she is tooo tiny but her dad reasures me that she is just fine. One thing that is not so tiny on her is her crazy hair. Some mornings she wakes up and it is out to neverland. Speaking of neverland it seems to be that peter pan is her fav. movie at the moment. This little girl inpires me to be better everyday.

Project 52 week # 3 & #4

What do these two pictures have to do with inspirations you might ask. Well for a few years now I have not been feeling up to par. Several abdominal and female issues to report. I have tried all the over the counter and prescription thing out there to help combat my issues. Thank goodness for a great Dr. of Chiropractic who just happens to be my husband for actually finding out what the problem is instead of just treating my symptoms. So these two pics are my inspirations becuase thanks to good foods, allergy treatments and cold laser treatments I am almost back to feeling like my old self again, energy, no pain, no heartburn, no bloating....... back to lots of things on my schedule and getting lots done, oh yeah and back into my skinny pants. The first pic is of a flat of wheat grass which I have a shot of every morning. Yuck you might say but in fact it goes down smooth and fast and gives me that boost in the morning. The second pic is of Homemade Lemonade. I loved how it looked in the pitcher. It tasted amazing to. So no carbs, or sugar, or yeast for me for a while ( I have to admit that I probably have a sweet once a week or else I would die) but if I can keep what I put into my body under contrl my sypmtoms seem to be under control I am going in next week for my Yearly Exam just to make sure there are no underlying causes for my issues. London picked the owl (no brainer) Syd wanted a bird and Cairo wanted an alligator (? she said like the one on Peter Pan, we have been watching that lately) So here they are.

Week #2

What is this you might ask. This is my inspiration of the week. This is my kitchen table that is being used as a folding table for the hundreds of loads of laundry that are produced in my household somehow. This is just the girls stuff not to mention the load in the washer and the dryer and then I have three more loads in my closet for B and myslef. So how is this my inpiration of the week. Well it has inspired me to be better at the laundry. It all comes down to being organised I guess. Something I used to be really good at and am strivig for each day. Be inspiring.... how do you deal with your laundry piles?

Project 52

It seems as though every crafty/photo blog you go on anymore either has a 365 or 52 project. I have never done one in the past becuase I figured I would never follow through anyways so why bother. Well this year is different (even though I am two weeks behind alredy but I have great intentions on catching up) My reason for finally doing one is that I feel like I have more time (less time in the office) and I am feeling like I need to be inspired or at least realise and have gratitude for the things that do inspire me. So weekly I will post an inspiration of mine. This week is Mr. Whootie and Mrs. London all wrapped up in one photo. Mr. Whootie owl is an inspiration to me that I am indeed crafty and can actually finish a project. London is my inspiration for so many things I cannot count. Although sometimes (most of the time) we butt heads I have to step back and remind myslef that she is just like me only ten times better. I try to encourage her the best I know how I never want her to think I don't care and I always want her to know I am her biggest fan no matter what it is she is doing. She has so much going on in her little life that I was glad to get her room done fore her!! The whole time I was working on projects she would tell me I am the best mom ever!!!!! The day we took these we were both really tired and the conditions were less than perfect for taking pictures so I felt a little editing edge and did some silouhetting (sp?) I like how they turned out. This is the second pregnancy that I have been able to shoot for my sis, to see the first go here. I may take some more when I will be visiting. I will be visiting my dear sister June 21-23 so for all you Farmington, NM ers if you would lke a mini photo shoot please let us know. My Dear friend and fellow photographer is about to have her 1st natural but 3rd child. Without going into toooo much detail her hubby and her have tried for close to eight years to have thier own biological child. They were blessed by two great women who gave them thier two daughters and to everyone's suprise baby number three is on its way. I was so excited when she asked me to take these pics. I was so glad to have been able to capture such a special time in her life! Not only did we get prego pics but we got some great family shots tooo!!!

This baby was every photographer's dream client. This little girl did not make a peep and was so intersted in the light. She is like a little flower always looking up towards the light. She did not cry, was good during wardrobe changes, did not mind my kids hanging around (although I did) and she fell asleep while I was shooting not to mention her headfull of curly hair. These are just a few of my favorites and a sample announcement I made up for her mom and dad.

With all this winter chill floating around, picture taking has been slow, but designing has not here are a few things I have been asked to work on.

My bestest girly friend from highschool had me design this for her sons 1st b-day

Designed this little bit for my nephew's baptism, isn't he such a stud.

Had a refferal from a friend email me wanting a baby boy 1st birthday invite, I am still waiting for her to send a pic of her son but you get the idea and she asked me to change the blue lighter (as you can see in the thank you note). She also wanted matching Thank You notes. I am working on a few other projects. If you have anything you need designed let me know.

Last but not least, here are Cairo's pics. It is so weird to look at these pics and see London's chubby baby pics and see Syd's silly face baby pics all wrapped up in one little Cairo. She was not a big fan of the hat but sweets and this girl are no joke. She reminded me as soon as we were done that I owed her a "treat". That wraps up the Kitchen photo shoots. Here is kitchen photo shoot part II. Syd is not a big fan of getting pictures taken, pure bribery here which I hate becuase I think she is completely gorgeous. After some convincing she pulled off these shots for me. Thanks Syd. (Jackie if you ever look at this blog check out pic number 3 on the top remind you of anyone? It kills me that Ty and Syd have so many of the same characteristics)

Kitchen Photo Shoots Part I

Brandon's Mom has a picture frame in her kitchen with three 5x7 slots for pictures with a strange baby in them (the sample pics you get when you buy a pic fram) that has been hanging up for about a year now (with the sample pics still in it) She has asked for a long time now for some shots of the girls in the kitchen. She found this little chef hat and we used some stuff around the house to capture these. These proofs are of London (I have two more girls to edit stay tuned) She loves to get corny with her facials but it makes it fun and expressive. I even caught her making funny faces in the mixing bowl and it turned out to be a just for fun momento of our day together in the kitchen. I had fun editing these into black and white. I found a great new way to get the creamy black and white if intersted leave a comment and I will get the link to the blog I got the info on.

I snapped these adorable kids during our Thanksgiving Holiday. Our Aunt Julie requested some portraits of her most prized posessions (her grandkids) so we dolled them all up and braved the cold morning and got some adorable shots. It helps to work with great kids. While thekdis were taking turns getting thier pics done the others were all bundle up in blankets in the back of the car. Thanks Niki for helping out with the kids.

My lil sis lives out here and so while visiting I thought I would do some work. She was gracious enough to ask around to see if anyone wanted or needed to get thier family pics done. And lo and behold there were two families. My sis picked a great location with these gorgeous trees bursting with yellow leaves and a cool bridge to work with. I was able to take one in evening light and one in morning light. Overall it was a great weekend and hopefully the fams enjoy thier pics. I have been waiting for this shoot for some time now. Ms. Daisy was a week old when these pics were taken. She did not like the idea of being undressed, she was too cold and that newborn startle took over. But thanks to her daddy we were able to get some of these great shots. (Daddy got out the blow dryer, not only did the baby love the sound but she was warm and moldable)

Baby Shower Invitation

I got a phone call last week from my MOM who was in a quick hurry to put together a baby shower for my sis-n-law. She was going to hand make some 30+ people. So I told her not to worr about it and whipped up this exprimental invitation. I had seen one like it on a website with a pregnant profile. I managed to simulate a profile using shapes in photoshop and added baby Chase's utltrasund picture. I told Aub it was an experiment but she loved it and decided to use it.

While I was visiting family I could not help but snap some pics of my niece, yes this is a girl, she hardly has any hair and her eyes are the biggest I have ever seen. Some of my family was teasig that she looks like baby Jack Jack from the incredibles. But all in all she is so irresitable. Farmington Mini Sessions

I was able to do a little work while a was visiting family this last week. I was able to shoot these adorable kids. I was nervous when I heard it was two year old twin boys... but they were great!!! I did not have to do anything to capture some of the great moments we had. Thier personalities just came out as soon as I held up my lens. Not really, but I was able to capture the essence of this soon to be six year old, only one week left. It was so fun to take her out on a date and hang out with her. Thanks to B for watching the other two so I could get some work done. London and I headed out to various hot spots in town and had a blast hanging out, being silly,multile wardrobe changes in the car, being creative, but most importantly spending one on one time with eachother. I let her be ceative (she enjoys making silly faces, and loves to strike a pose). She chose most of the locations for her shoot... she really enjoyed going up to her school (where by the way we are having Kindergarten graduation tonight) I think total I got 33 great shots (not too bad for an hour of work)here are just a few of my favs.

Ok, so he is not mine, but probably the closest I will get to having a boy, and he is not even that close. This little guy hails from CA. He just happens to belong to my best girly friend from Jr-high and high-school. He was born a while back but I just got the pics to do his announcement (if I would have been there I would have taken his pictures myself but I wasn't so I have to give credit to Ultraspective for thier efforts)I loved how this turned out though. My dear friend did not find out what she was having and so the nursery decor was in these great red/black/grey and white colors and had retro square pattern to the bedding ( I even made him a mini quilt to match, wish I would have taken a pic)So that is where the inspiration came from.

Addi and I had a playdate yesturday, athough her mother is a great photographer, I asked if I could come play and practice some of my new photo knowledge on lil miss Addison. She was so good, but wanted to stay warm and wrapped up in her little pink blankie. So we worked with it and she fell asleep all snuggled up. This little girl is such a miracle and brings so much happiness into her home.

So now that I have my feet wet (taking photos of my kids and family for three years now) and I have the right equipment (Valentines day gift from my hubby) and some phtography lessons under my belt (Thanks to Veronica Reeve) I am ready to step into business. These pictures were taken moments after my sister gave birth to her baby girl. You always want those captured moments, but hospital light is not the best. Granted they are in Black and White (I am noticing putting this all together, that most of my stuff is), but thank goodness for photoshop my sister was able to email me the pics and I dolled them up a little bit.

My First Real Attempt

Now I am not claiming any fame. This was my first Real Attempt to take pictures. I was sick of the same old thing you would get at a portrait studio, posed shots with fake backgrounds. As a mother I much prefer candid captured moments. I was impressed how my first attempt turned out. I will have these chubby toddler cheeks to cherish always.
